English wine grown on Shakespeare’s Land

Award Winning English Still and Sparkling Wines

There are many unique wines produced across Britain but none other than the Welcombe Hills Vineyard can profess to grow their grapes on land once farmed by the Shakespeare family overlooking the Bard’s own Stratford-upon-Avon.

Perched at the top of Welcombe Hills on rocky clay terroir the site has great drainage sloping down to the river Avon – the perfect conditions to aid the complex flavours of the award-winning wines they produce.

The area is famous for producing fruit and the vineyard is still surrounded by plum and apple orchards a nod to the centuries of production that has taken place here.

Welcombe Hills Vineyard was planted in 2001 as a “hobby vineyard” and then has grown over time, establishing a reputation at both local and national level for producing award-winning wines of high quality. Resulting in being recognised with many awards including 5 silver medals in 2021 from Wine GB and the IEWA. Proving that the wines that are produced here are as rich as the history that surrounds the vineyard.
